Baroque on Beaver Young Soloist Competition 2026
COMPETITION RULES
The Baroque on Beaver Young Soloist Competition exists to provide performance opportunities to young, aspiring classical musicians from the state of Michigan. The winner of the competition will be invited to Beaver Island to perform their concerto with the Festival Orchestra during the 2026 Summer Festival.
In addition to their performance opportunity, the winner of the competition will also have one-on-one rehearsal with and receive crucial stagecraft coaching from Associate Conductor Nathan Bieber. This will prepare the winner to appear on stage with confidence.
The winner of the Young Soloist Competition will be awarded $750 in prize money, and the two competition runners-up finalists will also receive a $250 prize.
Baroque on Beaver Island Young Soloist Competition 2026 Rules:
– Applicant must be enrolled in a Michigan Middle or High School at the time of submission.
– Must be an instrumental concerto movement OR concert piece from the Baroque/Classical period with ORCHESTRAL accompaniment. – Piano Concertos
ARE acceptable.
– Applicant’s chosen piece must be no longer than ~10 minutes.
– To apply, fill out the application form below and submit a YouTube link to a video of you performing your application piece. Application Videos must be unedited AND shot from one camera angle.
– An application fee of $25 must accompany your application. Payment should be made by check, post-marked by April 1 and made payable to:

– If your application is submitted and the piece does not satisfy the above rules, it will not be considered, and your money will be returned to you.
– If you are declared the winner of the competition, you are required to perform the piece with which you applied.
– Selected winner is encouraged to prepare and perform an unaccompanied encore!
– Applications of previous winners will not be considered.
