Candlelit holiday concert with the Northern Michigan (NoMi) String Collective

A Candlelight Concert of holiday favorites featuring the NoMI StringCollective’s Quartet will be held on Wednesday December 17 at 6:00pm in the BIC Center Theater. Tickets are FREE

Founded in 2024, the NoMi String Collective features some of the finest performers on their respective instruments in the state.

Meet The NOMI String Collective

Anne Marie Jones NoMi Strings
Ann Marie Jones

Ann Marie is a violinist and educator based in Traverse City, Michigan. She holds two degrees in music education, a Bachelor’s from Michigan State University and a Master’s of Education from Grand Valley State University. She is a certified Suzuki violin instructor and is co-director of the Traverse City Philharmonic Suzuki School. She is a violinist in the TC Phil and the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra, and the music director at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Traverse City. In addition to her musical pursuits, she is a certified executive coach and adjunct faculty member of the New Ventures West coaching school in San Francisco.

Adam Liebert-NoMI Strings
Adam Liebert

A Grand Rapids native, Adam Liebert has been a member of the Grand Rapids Symphony since 2001. After starting with piano lessons in elementary school, he was guided to the violin by a captivating GRS performance of Mussourgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. From touring Europe with the Blue Lake International Youth Symphony, Adam went on to study at Western Michigan University and the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Karlsruhe, Germany. From recording with the Heidelberger Sinfoniker, touring Europe and Asia with the Philharmonie der Nationen, participating in music festivals from Brazil to Northern Michigan, and teaching English at Berlitz, Adam has had a wide-ranging performance career. He currently serves as Assistant Principal Fourth Chair for West Michigan Symphony’s violin section. When he’s not busy making music, Adam is an avid long-distance cycler and enjoys TV shows with long overarching storylines.

Kim Teachout NoMI Strings
Kim Teachout

Kim grew up in Traverse City, MI and began her musical studies at a very young age, first on piano and eventually on violin and viola. She received her Bachelor of Music at Northern Illinois University, her Master’s in Music Performance at University of Colorado at Boulder, and completed 3 years of a Doctoral program at Arizona State University. 

Kim is currently the Principal Viola of the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra, the Associate Principal Viola with the Traverse City Philharmonic Orchestra, and Section Viola with the Baroque on Beaver Festival Orchestra. Kim also teaches music theory, ear-training, and class piano at Northwestern Michigan College, is co-director for the TC Philharmonic’s Suzuki program, and maintains a very active private studio of violin, viola and piano students. Kim also enjoys fiddling, singing, and playing electric cello with the honky-tonk country band, Mountain Gloom and Mountain Glory.

Lynne Tobin

A music educator for over 40 years, Lynne Tobin recently retired from teaching general music and strings at the Pathfinder School in Traverse City, MI. She currently plays cello with the Traverse City Philharmonic and conducts the unique multi-generational Civic String Ensembles for the TC Phil. A graduate of Interlochen Arts Academy, Lynne holds music performance degrees from the University of Michigan and Northern Illinois University. Prior to moving to MI, Lynne taught in Georgia for many years. The Mayor of Savannah declared April 18, 1994 “Lynne Tobin Day” to thank her for her musical work with children in the community. Lynne currently performs for weddings and special events across Northern Michigan with Baynorth Strings and in a piano/cello duo featuring a repertoire of American Songbook Classics with her husband Tim Sparling, called embraceable2.
