Anita Mauro – Board Treasurer
Anita Mauro was introduced to Beaver Island by her husband, Dan, in 2018. She quickly caught “Beaver Fever” and they purchased a home on the island before their weeklong stay was up.
Formerly a partner at Thompson Coburn LLP where she concentrated on banking, commercial finance and real estate tax assessment, Anita is the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Compliance Officer and General Counsel at Patrick Mauro Investment Advisor, Inc. Before becoming an attorney, Anita served as Assistant Vice President and Director of Marketing for First Bank of Highland Park, Ill.
Anita received her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, a graduate degree in retail banking from the BAI Graduate School of Retail Banking, and her law degree from Loyola University Chicago.
Anita was named a 2018 Notable Minority Lawyer by Crain’s Chicago Business. She received a 2018 Animal Welfare Leadership Award from PAWS Chicago and has been included in “Illinois Super Lawyers” Rising Stars list for Banking and Commercial Finance in 2009, 2011-2013, 2015.
Anita has always had a passion to give back to her community. Besides serving on the board of the Beaver Island Performing Arts Alliance, she is a member of the Beaver Island Dark Sky Project and assisted the group with its application to DarkSky International. In her hometown of Chicago, Anita serves on the Development Board of PAWS Chicago and is a member of the Chicago Sculpture Exhibit Board of Directors.
