Bill Schneider – Board Member

Bill Schneider bought a house and acreage on Beaver Island in 1985. He was the founding president of the Beaver Island Property Owner’s Association (now the Beaver Island Association) which focuses on the environmental and economic welfare of the island.

Bill joined the board of directors of the Beaver Island Performing Arts Alliance (BIPAA) in Oct. of 2016.  He played an important role in the selection and purchase of a grand piano by BIPAA and has been responsible for all aspects of its care (storing, tuning, moving) throughout the year and during the Baroque on Beaver summer music festival.

When not on the island, Bill is an active piano and pipe organ technician and restorer. In 2007 he retired from the Michigan State University School of Music and Wharton Center for Performing Arts where he served as the chief piano technician. His main residence is in Mason, Michigan.

Bill earned a BA in Music Theory and Composition from Michigan State University in l972.
