Sharon Nemser – Board Member

A devoted educator, Sharon began her career as a high school English teacher. After earning a doctorate at Teachers College, Columbia University, she served on the faculties of the University of Chicago, Michigan State and Brandeis University where she directed innovative teacher education programs and pioneered research on teacher learning.
In 2000 Sharon was recruited to fill a newly endowed chair in Jewish education at Brandeis University where she established a center for research on teaching and learning, initiated a Master of Arts in Teaching and created a program for teacher leaders.
Serving on the board of the Beaver Island Performing Arts Alliance has led to new friendships and a welcome opportunity to contribute to the cultural life of Beaver Island.
